Maxim Roy

Roy began her acting career performing theatre. Her big break came when she landed a lead role in the television series, THE WIZARD, based on the best selling novel IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND OF THE SON, and its sequel. She then leaped into feature films starring in the comedy, Golden Reel / CSA winner, THE BOYS, making Roy a Canadian star.

Roy has always managed to navigate between American, Canadian and European television and films. She considers herself lucky to have worked with renowned directors such as Denys Arcand at the beginning of her career. She reunited with the Oscar winner in his latest feature, THE FALL OF THE AMERICAN EMPIRE. Roy just wrapped Roland Emmerich’s latest epic feature, MOONFALL, in which she plays the US Navy Captain, ‘Gabriella Auclair’ alongside Halle Berry and Patrick Wilson.

With 35 films under her belt, Roy is currently collecting best actress awards and international acclaim for her performance in the short film, WICHITA.

On television, Roy has starred in award-winning and internationally renowned series including: SHADOWHUNTERS (Freeform/Netflix), BAD BLOOD (Netflix, CSA Best Actress nomination), OCTOBER FACTION (Netflix), MIRAGE (France2, ZDF, Crave), REGENESIS (Amazon), MVP (ABC,) SUPERSTORM (BBC) DEFYING GRAVITY (ABC, CTV, BBC and ProSieben) HEARTLAND (CBC) and 19-2 (Bravo-CTV-CRAVE). The latter garnered Roy a CSA nomination for “Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role”.

Roy’s diverse filmography exemplifies the versatility she has as a performer. This skill has enabled her to play characters that are both colourful and memorable. Sharing the screen with high calibre actors such as Evan-Rachel Wood, John Cusack, Matthew Modine, Isabella Rossilini and Nastassja Kinski among others. Roy has always strived to better her craft; “I want to be challenged” is her modus operandi.

In one year, she lit up the silver screen in six feature films and was nominated for a Jutra (Quebec Oscars) for best supporting actress in the indie-film, ADAM’S WALL. She starred alongside French Star Sandrine Kiberlain in the comedy, ROMAINE AT-30; in the critically acclaimed indie BLIND SPOT, in which she generated rave reviews for her performance; in Robert Ménard’s drama STAY WITH ME; in Emmy award winner Yves Simoneau’s comedy, THE BAIT; and alongside John Cusack in THE FACTORY.

Maxim Roy was named one of “Canada’s 25 Most Beautiful Stars” by Star! TV. Star! TV selects stars based on their personality, national success and popularity. The paper ICI Montreal, also named Roy the “Sexiest and Most Popular” actress.

In her free time, Roy is: a godmother to the organization ANEB, a non-profit that fights anorexia- bulimia; has been a member of GREENPEACE for 16 years; and devoted 15 years to DECLIC, a non-profit organization that brings kids back to school. She supports anything and everything ‘environmentally friendly’ and has recently lent her voice to WORLD VISION, with whom she will travel in the near future to raise money for children living in poverty.
