Marsha Chesley has been a casting director for over forty years and is the 2009 winner of the Gemini Award for Best Achievement in Casting for her work on the television series The Line. She has worked in every medium: feature films, movies of the week, dramatic series, and sitcoms. In her years at CBC, she worked with some of Canada’s most-respected filmmakers including Claude Jutra, Donald Brittain, Francis Mankiewicz, Gordon Pinsent, and Al Waxman. She also worked on two of Canada’s best-loved television shows of all time – King of Kensington and Seeing Things.

With a background in education, Marsha has lead workshops and is frequently called upon to give seminars to producers, directors, and writers, as well as actors. In addition to teaching a full credit course on audition techniques for camera at Seneca College and currently at George Brown College Media School, and a unit for producers and directors at Sheridan College, some of the other places she has taught include, York University, Ryerson University, Humber College, George Brown College Theatre School as well as the Summer Institute of Film And Television in Ottawa. For three years she was Casting Director-in-Residence at the Canadian Film Centre. In addition she is a published author. Her book, You Got the Part! published by J. Gordon Shillingford Publishing Inc., is a constant best seller.

Recent casting credits include the televisions series King, This is Wonderland, Blue Murder, The Line, Little Mosque on the Prairie, Living in Your Car, the highly acclaimed television movie John A: The Rivals directed by Jerry Ciccoritti, and the feature film Heaven on Earth directed by Deepa Mehta. In 2014 she cast The Pin, the only feature film to be made in Canada entirely in Yiddish. She has also cast films both long and short in Russian, Punjabi and several other languages. Fluent in French, Marsha has also assisted in the casting of roles in French productions for both film and television for directors Robert Lepage, Robert Ménard, André Melançon and Martin Cadotte among others.
