The Department of Theatre believes that the best way for students to learn the art of theatre is to study in the studio and then to practice alongside top-rated professionals.
The Department operates The Clarence Brown Theatre (CBT), a LORT D Equity theatre (League of Resident Theatres), and is a member of the University/Resident Theatre Association (U/RTA). It offers a four-year general Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre with optional concentrations in Honors, Acting, and Design and Technology, and a three-year Master of Fine Arts degree in Theatre with concentrations in Acting, Costume Design, Lighting Design, Scenic Design, and Sound and Digital Media.
